- Beat AIDS "Off Beat: A Red Hot Soundtrip" is the new enhanced CD from Wax Trax/TVT records and the final project overseen by Wax Trax! Founder and Chicago rock fixture Jim Nash, who died of AIDS in October. The disc is dedicated to Nash and features the contributions of 22 artists, including David Byrne, Soul Coughing, My Bloody Valentine, Moby and Chicago's Tortoise. The disc also contains a short film, which is accessible with a CD-ROM drive. The "Off Beat" CD is part of a larger exploration of the Beat Generation and is produced by the Red Hot Organization in conjunction with the Whitney Museum of American Art's "Beat Culture and the New America 1950-1965" exhibit. All profits generated by the CD will be donated to organizations fighting AIDS.
